I found this site that sells HVX200's at this site for $2199.. The site looks legit but the price seems too good to be true. Should I buy from here? Why or Why not? Any help would be great!

Here's the link:

The site looks legit [...]

Thing is .. how does one define a site as looking legit?

[...] the price seems too good to be true.

...and that's because it is too good to be true. It's a scam, stay away.

Read the sticky on where to buy here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=70059

Is there some way to get these weekly posts to be automatically deleted?

Seriously, if everybody is selling at $5K, how can someone sell at half that price?

Think before you post on the "too good to be true" web sites.

Hi everyone, my first post to the group, recently I've decided to plung in and get 3 HVX for a project we are going to be doing, I was searching and looking for a decent price that can maximize my investment (so I can get 3 cases, 3 tripods, shoulder mount, shotgun mic, and all the fun stuff). We searched online and then thought for a bit and decided to call up local authorized dealers and see if they would give us a break with the $, We felt that buying it locally with an authorized dealer give us a lot of advantages... 1st. local, so you can get it there, 2nd. if the machine has problem, they can take care of you right away... So, here, we got a company to offer me each camera with tripod for about $4995 and the company is willing to go out of his time to make sure I get the cameras in 5 days and if I need to, a loan camera in the meantime...

Seriously, best is get it local to avoid the fixing/shiping hassle later. :)

We always advise shopping with your local dealer. Glad you found someone who would work with you to meet your needs.

If you want to know what's up with them (and get a good laugh), call them and ask what you'll get for your $2199. I did recently (a different site most likely) and the first thing I was told was that I wouldn't get a lens for that price, just the camera body. Interesting, don't you think? Especially since the HVX's lens CAN'T BE REMOVED (without a hacksaw).

The "with lens" price was...I forget...$3500 or something. Adding "US spec" to the deal raised the price to about $4k, which is when I ended the call. These places are apparently infested with rodents impersonating humans...

Maybe if the topic were a sticky we would see a reduction in these type posts. I'm willing to bet if someone doesn't see what they want on the first page, they don't go to any other pages, and they sure as heck don't use search.

Ho...
