Hey, guys. I have a SWEET GIF that's 5.18MB in size. I need it to be smaller. I have ImageReady 7.0. What are my options? Turning down the Lossy and all that stuff effects the image TOO much. Is there a compressor somewhere that I can just upload the image, say how big (Or small) I want it to be and it'll just compress it to THAT size?

Not sure of any standalone tools that will work for what you want, but you could use The Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) to import the file, and then output it again as a GIF with more compression. You'll have to experiment a bit, as there isn't an option to select an exact output size, but it should do the job nonetheless.

Downloading.

Uninstalled it. I don't want to learn to use an entire program just to compress this Gif. But hey, if YOU know how to use that program and could compress this Gif for me, that'd be GREAT!....

I did some looking around, and it seems that The Gimp will only force a re compression when you lower the resolution (when working with GIFs). Oddly, it lets you select the compression rate directly when you use JPEGs. I've never had the need to recompress a GIF to make it smaller -- I've only edited them, so I just assumed it would be the same.

I'll keep looking and see if there is a plug-in or other way of manually adjusting this in The Gimp, as logic suggests it should be able to.
