Hello everyone,

I am sure this question has been asked alot. Basicly I want to know which you guys prefer? One thing I heard (I am new to this) that the redrock inverts the image so in order to view it correctly you have to buy an external monitor..Is this true? I know brevis inverts it to but they have a additional peace which corrects that..

Thanks guys..

All the adapters except the Letus invert the image. And all of those now offer an additional piece that reverts the image back to right-side-up. SG Pro offers a Letus flip option, Brevis offers their own flip, and Redrock offers a Micro X (I think... it's been released, hasn't it?)

Even if it hasn't been released yet, I wouldn't be surprised if the Brevis or Letus flip module worked with the M2 as well.

well, I shoot with the Redrock and I love it. Setup is a little more time consuming, it takes maybe 10 minutes to get it all dialed in and setup right.

I don't think any of the adapters are really "better" than one another, they all have their strengths and weaknesses. If you search the 35mm forum, you will be able to find LOADS of info on both adapters.

Redrocks flip module isn't out yet, the shipping date is being announced monday, hopefully it will ship soon! But I guess the cinevate flip works with the redrock.

This question is like the meaning of life question....You are going to get so many answers, but from what it sounds like, you want lots of opinions, so in that case I love my SgPro, Go Wayne!!! lol, Like Berry said, the all have + and -'s.

* The best run n' gun adaptor (best light loss wise/don't need rails to mount) - brevis
*Most film like (bokeh) - SG Pro

The redrock puts out some great footage too but don't rate it so much.

I'd chose either of these two and the flip packages aren't a necessity by any mean.

pick what you think gives you the best image and then go from there, personally I like the RR

To be honest I don't even know where to start looking for and external monitor. Where can I go? Any recommended online stores? Also are there any that come with like a mounting kit to mount it on the HVX200? Thanks, Links would be great thanks guys...

I'd go for a Brevis Flip over a Red Rock any day. I worked on a feature shoot with an HVX and RR before I got my Brevis Flip and now Id never go back.

The RR takes longer to set up, weighs more, is a pain in the ass to power.

The images it gets are just as nice as the Brevis, but it certainly looses more light.

wow. you have asked 2 of the most heavilly debated questions on this forum.

everyone is dead on right. each adapter has its own areas of plus and minus. and none of them suck.

as far as monitors go. are you shooting HD? then look for marshall, ikan, totevision or panasoinc. there is even a guy here who makes one. i forget his name, but if you search for "external monitor" im sure it will come up...

there are even a few consumer lcd tvs that are surprisingly good. but dont just buy a brand - as its a specific model within that brand that will be what you want. i have the sharp lc 19sk24u that i use for a client monitor and its really nearly good enough to use as a main monitor

I like the Letus Extreme. It's one piece and flips the image for you. Also, very little light loss.

IMO - Setting these adapters up is a bit of a hassle as it is... having to wrestle with more than one piece (flip module) makes it it worse. Letus got it right.

Wooow, this actually gave me more questions than answers. LOL! The only thing I noticed is that the brevis doesn't have a "starter" kit. They do have a kit but it doesn't include the mounting rods or the step down rings for the HVX..Why is this?

I had a Redrock M2 for almost 2 years. Several features were shot with it. I loved it, but it became a little out dated. I sold it and a couple months ago I got a Letus Extreme, and it's hands down a better adapter in my opinion than the M2. The image is right side up, and it loses only 1/2-3/4 of a stop of light as compaired to the M2, which is at least 1.5 stops. The only draw back is I can't do super fast shutter speeds with the Letus.

I've got a M2 and it's very good, but the lack of image flip is annoying. I'm looking to get a Letus extreme at some point. Must be great to be able to shoot with 35mm lenses and not have to flip in the edit.
