What are some of good gear adapter for the Sony PMW-EX1 camera? I'm looking into pulling focus on this camera but I believed I need gear adapter for me to be able to pull focus on this camera. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Depends on your budget. My first thought, without question, is REDROCK.

I'm using the Redrock Follow Focus, I highly recommend it.

I just need the gear ring that goes over the EX1 focus ring...nothing fancy.

So any suggestion? I just need the gear adapter that goes around the EX1's focus ring so that I can use my IndiFocus follow focus on. I remember seeing a site that has a bunch of those ring gears that are compatible with the EX1 camera but I don't remember exactly which site it is now.

Thanks, moldcad, but I just checked and Cavision don't have a focus ring for EX1 camera.

Doesn't have an in depth description of how, and how well it attaches. But, I doubt Cavision would specifically say it works on an EX1 with out qualifying that.
Have you done a google search for "ex1 focus ring" yet?

my god that rig looks uncomfortable!! The Cavision shoulder support has no padding so I had to stop using it, the monitor must be about a millimetre from your eyes and rather front heavy? I finally got a decent handheld rig but ended up with zacuto as it was the only one that really worked.

Someone throw some dirt on that "Tommy," he's WAY too clean!

For whatever reason, Sony put geared rings on iris, zoom... but not focus. What is the barrel diameter? Cavision has different diameter focus rings depending on your application. With a thread size of 77mm (what the?!), you would think that it would be about 80 - 82mm on the barrel. Course, I have the calipers, but no EX1.

We hadn't been able to test with the EX1 so we weren't sure what gear ring would fit. Last week I was able to get my hands on the EX1 to do some testing, we do have a focus gear ring available for it, the focus gear ring that fits over the barrel is the RFGR-95.
