I went to a Worldmark/Wyndham Timeshare presentation with a friend who won a free trip the other day. Basically its a timeshare program with credit based timeshare, so you are not limited to one room/resort but to can choose from 60.

Anyway, still not a very good deal IMO once you crunch the numbers. But I must say they are FANTASTIC sales people, no doubt.

I had a question though... they mentioned how they are either a non profit or a not for profit. Can't remember, I've heard both terms before - is there a difference? Also, how can a company like them claim non profit (or not for profit)? I know you can still make a lot of money in a non profit and I know some organizations are more "truly" non profit than others...

Anyone know about this?

The terms are generally used interchangeably. The could conceivably be not-for-profit if they don't disperse profits to anyone and either roll them back into the company or build up a cash reserve. Still seems fishy, though. More like a way for them to say "see, we're not really screwing you" even though the non-profit status would have nothing to do with prices, commissions or even salaries. And being a non-profit doesn't automatically make them a 501(c) -- that's a separate distinction.

"Not-for-profit" is the correct term. "Non-profit" is the colloquialism.

It doesn't mean that you CAN'T earn a profit; it just means it's not why you operate.
