Hell... this place screams ANY genre of film...
I'd LOVE to have access to it.

That would an AWESOME place to film! It'd be hard to get a cast/crew to go in with me, but it'd definitely be a lot of fun.

that place is used in a lot of stuff. it's called Linda Vista Hospital. the E.R. pilot was shot there. part of it was built out as a Russian gulag and still looks that way. I personally scouted it for the ending of White Knuckles but it was too dilapidated for our needs. there's a caretaker that lives there. the creepiest part was the records room. there are thousands upon thousands of actual medical records collecting dust in the basement.

What are the fees looking like for that place, Zak?

at the time, it was $5,000 a day. you can negotiate a lower rate if nobody else wants it when you want it. i think Cold Case was shooting the day we scouted it. but they are very, very hard to work with. you'll have to put up with a lot of eye rolling and "i can't make that decision" red tape. if you aren't offering their full price, they will flat out ignore you. you'd have to be persistent to get the deal we got. we had them contracted to three days for $1500 total, but we were scouting back-up locations and ended up telling them to go f*ck themselves and chose to shoot in an actual hospital wing that had been shut down because of costs for less than what Linda Vista wanted.

Yarg. I guess because they know they can get much more. Oh well.

Yup, worked on a student film there about 10 years ago. Was pretty creepy going into the boiler room by myself at about 3 in the morning to make sure we didn't leave anything behind. It looks amazing on camera as you can tell by the photos. But creeeeepy!

For some reason this reminds me of the Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire. Is it even there still? That place has a strange "stuck in time" vibe. I stuck my head in there once and all I could think of was the RFK assassination in 1968.

They filmed part of the Devil's Rejects there. It was an unused hospital scene.

I don't think it's a location anymore; I think they are building condos inside it now. Anyo other abandoned buildings in LA?????

This place is just creepy enough to be AMAZING! I totally just added it to my list of "Places To See When In LA Looking For Somewhere To Shoot Or Just Check Out" Unfortunatly it is the first and only entry into that list so far (hard to imagine, I know)
