So I made a post on Facebook in the marketplace for a brand new set of goalie pads I have. Ice hockey, mint condition.
I get a PM from a guy from Ireland. SO HE SAYS, DUN DUN DUN...
He talks like a robot, and I think he is one...
So we converse, and I still have this feeling I am being scammed...But, if I get the cash, then obviously I will send out the pads.
Again, I'd like to mention how he talks...I don't know if I should post some of the sentences, but it was really weird, and this is what got me thinking.
So I get mail today, SWEET! ITS THE MONEY!
I asked for 350. And he said he would gladly send me the money, PLUS an extra 50 bucks, so that I could pay for shipping with it.
I open the cheque, and it's 3500 dollars...Me thinking it was a mistake to 350 dollars, emailed him and asked.
My dad went to the bank in the mean time, and we found out it was a scam. Pretty much, I would've cashed it, and I would be out 3500 dollars, meanwhile they would GET the 3500 dollars. Come on, at least make the cheque to something like 500 dollars, so it's not so suspicious. This scammer was doing this real bad.
We went to the cops, and they gave us a number to call, cause apparently this scamming over the internet is getting so bad, that they have private detectives now in their own little stations working on cases like exact one.
I'll follow up what happens, as we haven't called him yet...
