Or, perhaps, Blaine it seems that way because this is the first fest when WE are semi-organized! You probably saw things differently when you were shooting stuff a couple hours before deadline and compressing files at midnight!

This has been such a great experience for the FM crew. Got to work with some cool dvxusers (Geoff, Matty, Luis, Amanda, Justin, Blaine, Kholi) and also some really cool non-dvxusers. We've learned a lot and can't wait to watch every entry.

I just want to say thanks to all the members, and everyone who is participating in this fest. Was a strong turnout this time, and a real strong sponsor turn out as well, and hopefully things will continue to get bigger and better, and more and more streamlined, professional and all that stuff moving forward.

It's the members that really make the fests great... and put the fest mods on their toes to make things better and to be able to handle the increased load and demand with each fest.

We thought when we announced the fest theme that some people might grumble and gripe and not participate if it wasn't a sci-fest or horrorfest, but hey, Barry_S chose this and I think it's always great to see the filmmakers stretch and grow. And you guys responded big-time: 50 entries! Awesome. Looking forward to when the viewing begins!

These festivals give us filmmakers something to look for. Even if you don't enter, you can look forward to watching an array of different films with unique stories and cinematography. Whether in the festival or not, this site will definately raise your game and if you're lucky, get to meet some cool people along the way.

I was just commenting to a friend about how this is a "user group" for the DVX but I guess that's what it is technically.

For me, and from what I've seen, it's a place for filmmakers who want to talk seriously about the art of film and progress in their filmmaking while not taking themselves too seriously and having a good time doing so. And I think that the mods and their level of integrity and ability to engage us, the users, as well their constantly unrivaled hard work makes this not only a foremost place for DVX discussion but also for film discussion in general. I think everyone, especially those who put the time and effort into these awesome films agree. And those of us who didn't make the deadline, wish we could have competed, or those who simply come over to view recognize how great this place is.

And it's the rockin' mods who make it that way.

You got it Danielleus... The emphasis is on the "USER".

"DVXuser" has become more of a brand name now than anything else, and a look back and homage to the roots of the site. I like to think of DVXuser as Kleenex, Xerox, Scotch tape, etc... :)
