Record start up lag

When I hit the record button on my HVX 200 it takes a few second to engage the heads when I shoot tape. When I use the P2 it starts immediately. Any insight to this would be appreciated.

Shooting on tape = moving parts. They take time to get moving.

Shooting on P2 = no moving parts. So, no time to get moving.

Exactly. One of the biggest benefits of solid state is the instant-on recording. Tape cannot do that.
