View Full Version : Is it ok to leave battery and P2 card attached to the camera all the time?

I have a pelican 1610 case and I leave my camera in it with the battery attached and the P2 card inside the camera. Is this ok? I just saw a post about an exploding battery and read something about how sometimes they leak. (Both of the batteries I have are Panasonic) I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything that would put my camera at stake.

Battery = not recommended.
P2 Card = not really a problem.

Ignore this.
Remove the battery during transit because the tabs on the camera have a tendency to break.

plus the battery drains down when attached to the cam.

whenever your are not using your camera remove the batteries.

There is always a small draw on the battery when it's attached which will decrease it's useful life over time. Lithium batteries can only go through a limited number of charge/discharge cycles before they're dead.
I've never taken my battery off a camera in 5 years.. never had a issue... *knock on wood*
Using 3 batteries right now.. I always carry my camera in transit.. battery attached...

Just because you have done it without a problem doesn't mean one SHOULD. The HVX has a weak spot, and the weak spot is the battery tabs. I know this from personal experiences and from reading from many others on here.

Thank you everyone for all of the replies. I have "foamed" out another spot next to my other battery in my pelican for travelling.
