View Full Version : Timecode jumped backwards to zero using freerun

I have my HVX set on freerun. I just now digitized material I recorded to tape using FCP. As expected, whenever there was a timecode jump (corresponding to when I paused while shooting) FCP would create a new clip. However, about 30 minutes into the tape, the timecode on the tape jumped back to approximately 00:00:37:12. Somehow the camera was no longer in freerun. Also, each subsequent shot would increment in big jumps.

Once digitized into FCP the timecode embedded in the digitized clips seems like it might be what would correspond to freerun eventhough the timecode on the tape is weird.

Why did this happen? I don't recall turning the camera off at the shoot. (And I'm almost certain I didn't change the battery.)

Thanks for any help.

When the cam hits 24 hours on free run timecode it starts over again at zero. I've had it happen and just merged the clips together in the FCP timeline, no problems.

It's always a good idea to reset the free-run TC before a shoot to avoid this.

It didn't cross midnight. It got up to about 9:45:00:00 then jumped back.

Any idea what happened?
