Hello, I have questions,
Question # 1
When looking at my LCD monitor on the HVX, on whites or light colors there are blue-ish diagnal lines running through it. If I go outside forgetaboutit, even worse makes it almost imposs. to focus, and out doors anything being hit with sun light has these markings. However, this does not show on playback or the recording itself, it is only on the built in LCD but making it very hard to focus... Why, & how do I fix???
Question # 2
Also, is there a way to use my macbook pro (latest edition, 17inch) as the monitor, if so is there a draw back like time delay or something? FCP 2 on Mac OS lepoard, just incase that info is needed.
Thanks in advance!!!

1# this is called "zebras" its a tool that helps with exposure. You can turn them off if you want but its good to use them. Make sure when you go outside to consider using the ND filters (the sliding dial behind the lens) I set my zebra level at 100%, that means when you see the zebra stripes in your image, that area is completely over-exposed.
2# there a a few monitor solutions through firewire for a mac, all of them have some lag-time. Try a small HDTV instead for real-time viewing.

Thanks Hunter, How do I kill the zebras, I don't remember turning it on... The first two days I had this camera it didn't do it at all. Today messed with scene file setting ONLY and now it does it. hummm.
Can I turn this off, How? BTW the dial behind the lens seems to be adjusting the iris only, and isn't really helping much zebras fade then screen goes dark

Congrats on getting your hvx. You should looking into getting barry green's book or video. it will give you great handle on the basics of the camera.
so you went ahead and bought an hvx huh?. think you should have waited and bought a basic red setup. you could have rented it out and made money back pretty quickly if the production game doesnt pan out for you.

Yea, got an HVX, came with Barrys book and CD not the DVD extra batts 16 GB P-2 Card and a couple of little goodies for $5,100.02. (got discount for wire funds, checked them out Auth panny dealer) @ Specialized communications. I actually am familar with the Red One camerea. Its not really 17k and is developed to use its own custom tools and applications...aka no such thing as a basic RED. LOL oh and the wait time was almost a year.
I really don't want to wait a year to start any work. My thought was get familar with HVX, once getting more biz and doing well, then move up the food chain.... wgzn how is Texas I think it is. Here in Phoenix AZ it's cold...
I am learning mistakes with it and finding out little things here and there, Still can't figure out why I had a bunch of clips on thumbnails (practice takes) then when I would press play they wouldn't play anymore when I was abel to do it all day long... hummmm the setting is the same 720p 24p or 24pn I have check both settings and now my clips have dissapeared. Need to find or they are lost forever. I guess this is why everyone creates tape back-up

To play back clips from a P2 card your camera needs to be in the mode the clips were shot in. (e.g., if you have a one clip recorded with DVCPro and one with 720p, the DVCPro clip will only play if the camera is in DVCPro mode, and likewise for the 720p clip.)

Actually, I tried this, read the manual, barrys book and all that fun stuff. Its almost as if it fell off the face of the earth..... Strange I must be doing something else wrong... Everything you have mentioned I have tried. So is this why this biz kills us early....lol
