I don't know if this belongs here, but, I'm trying to get video files from a friend. They're 300 meg files. We're using the SmartFTP software. Is that any faster than using Yahoo messenger? If so, why, I would think the pipeline would be the limiting factor.

It's not that it's faster, it's probably more reliable. Also, you can resume a download with FTP if the server supports it.

Really? Okay, I haven't had too many reliability issues with yahoo. If it's not significantly slower, I'll just use it to transfer big files. Thanks.

I mean reliably transfer large files. Sometimes they get stuck half downloaded. But try it, it might work just fine... and it's a lot easier than dealing with ftp.
