EDIT: THIS IS NO LONGER URGENT, BUT I'D STILL LIKE TO FIGURE THIS OUT, SO I'M BRINGING THE THREAD BACK UP.

Just came off a shoot, and we've got one DVX100a going, and one HVX200.

I'm going out from cams with a BNC cable (with composite adapter), and into a recorder/broadcast monitor/switcher.

I need the timecode to show up on the broadcast monitor and recorder. With the DVX, it works just fine, and timecode shows on monitor.

With the HVX, and all the same settings I can see identical to the DVX, the timecode only shows on the monitor when in pause mode (not recording). The second I hit "record" the timecode disappears.

How do I send timecode out to the external?

Sorry dude, I can't figure it out. That's kinda a surprise bummer issue. :(

It's not happening in P2 mode, only in Tape mode ... is recording to P2 and then post-delivering the tape an option? (Or even offer to "capture" for the client, and provide them with a Hard Drive with the footage.)

Other option is to record on an off-board recorder who's TC out does work. Do you have another DV camera (A "Capture" camera perhaps?) that you could use as an outboard recorder?

Thanks Mikko, Hmmm... I don't have any P2's at my disposal right now. You mean go out from HVX, through "capture" cam, and into recorder?

I've got one hour till call time, so I'm open to anything at this point.

Do you have a 2nd DV camcorder & a firewire cable. - And whatever Composite breakout cable may be necesarry for that camcorder?

... if you do. You can firewire out of the HVX into the smaller DV camcorder [with no signal loss] .. and then record in that camcorder. The output the video signal from it (with the OSD on) to the monitor/mixer.

The only down side is there there will be a slight lag on that signal. Which may or may not be good enough for the client.

Still trying! Mikko... excellent idea, and I'll give it a try. If I can't get it, oh, well. We'll work something out, even if that means me logging the footage and doing in in FCP, or refunded a portion...

Thanks guys. Gotta run!

I'm going to bump this thread, just because I still haven't been able to figure this out. It's no longer urgent, but there has to be an explanation... even if that explanation is "it can't be done with the HVX because of..."

Doesn't anyone else need to export timecode during a live feed??
