Anyone ever feel like there's just too much technical information to know? Feel overwhelmed? inadequate?

I can tell, some of this stuff comes easy for some people, others, not. Rather than trying to fill your nut with truckloads of technical data, might it be better just to put an ad in craigslist saying "Wanted, guy who knows sound" or "Wanted, guy who knows lighting".

I've worked for people that have made millions of dollars from video and it's amazing how little they know. This one director I worked with called every single camera move a "Zoom". If he wanted a dolly shot he'd say "Zoom the camera over this way..." The one thing they DO know is how to use the phone.

yes? i've found that the quickest solution for anything I don't know how to do, is to throw money at it to get someone else in that knows what they're doing.

btw, i'm using "zoom" for everything now. that's awesome.

That's why big budget movies have huge crews. Each department can focus on a specific area of the film...

Your director example is akin to a manager who couldn't do anything if he actually had to do things himself... :)

It varies. Some directors - a very few - can perform production jobs because somewhere in their background, they learned how. A very, very few, can do several jobs competently, and have even won awards for doing so...

Don't forget Michael Mann.

That McCarrick character overlooked at least another dozen or so categories in which he could have credited himself...

Given the marvelous range of bases you covered on Agent Undercover it impressed me as likely that you'd performed in some number of further roles for which IMDB has categories available, too.

Sorry for referring to you in the third. I didn't notice your tag before I posted that.
