I was setting up an interview using a hard wired PSC milli mic into the external xlr inputs of my HVX. Once set up and even before, there was a noticable "electronic hum" in the background I have not heard before. I swapped everything out and no changes. I could hear the hum disappear as I set the internal mic to ch1. The hum is there on the tests I shot.

To add to it, I tested all of the same equip today and there is no hum?

I know it is gone, but curious what it could be.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

1. AC 60Hz hum? were you coming out of a mixer? bad polarity or ground on the plug.

2. no mixer. phantom power on and the mic doesn't need it.

3. using pahntom power, and bad, loose ground on the mic.

(don't you just hate intermittents)
