Can I delete specific compartments? If so, how?

Also...can i combine compartments onto another hard drive? Can i take 5 compartments from one HDD totaling say, 60GB and offload them onto ANOTHER hard drive creating ONE 60GB compartment?

Are we talking about the P2 store? I don't understand why you'd be running Linux on anything else with the HVX.
Using P2CMS (http://panasonic.sixbullets.net/#utilities) you can merge P2 cards together into one P2 card of unlimited size.

Technically they are partitions, not compartments.

I don't understand why you'd want to use anything else but Linux...

To the original poster, please post more details. Are you talking about the P2 Store, or offloading from the HVX to a firewire hard drive using 1394 host mode? In either case, you run into the "15 partition" issue.

Also, to what end are you trying to move partitions around? I'm a bit confused as to your goal.

I have quite a bit of experience using GNU/Linux, so I'd be glad to help if you post more details. Which distribution you're running would help me as well. Or are you just talking about that fact that the camera itself runs Linux?

I use a 500 GB HDD. I transfer from camera in 1394 Host mode via FW cable. The most I can store on the HDD, considering the 15 partitions, is about 240GB (15 partitions x 16 GB P2 card).

I want to consolidate the partitions so I can use more of my 500 GB HDD space
