Good work, Barry - can FW drives run off bus power or just the USB drives?

And they can fit a WFM on it? Wow.
For that money, and since it has no internal memory, I'd prefer an 8" monitor. Is there a reason that Panasonic couldn't do something like this with hot-swappable 2.5 drives?
The HD/SDI throughput is very tempting, but at the end of the day... I simply see it as a feature-rich P2 card reader.

Why would you want hot-swappable 2.5" drives? That would mean handling raw bare drives; no way would they want to have end users handling bare drives. You can use USB drives, they're swappable and they're packaged for end-user handling.

Oh, if it could only record live from FW to an external FW/USB drive!

so if you can now creat 26 partitions doesnt that present a problem on windows - how do you access all the partitions since you can only have 26 at a time. your system disks, mapped drives etc use up much of those - how do you handle this?

Read the article, it tells what the unit does. It is not a FireStore as it doesn't record to hard disks. It can offload card contents to a hard disk though.
