yeah, this a great video that demonstrates what C4D can do, contrary to it's many naysayers.

No real shocker there, C4D if a great platform which has been overlooked and looked down upon from the 3D community for quite some time. Only in the last few years have folks realized the true power of it. It has it finally gotten the respect and use it deserves.
Fantastic work from an awesome app.
Thanks for sharing.

There is alot to be said for the compositing dept. as well.
I took a before and after grab of the video and practiced getting the same look in AE. The only thing I had a problem with was getting the highs a little brighter. Like the edges of the tornado and the skys horizon.
I guess I could make a high contrast mask and blend in those areas to bring
it out more. Good practice anyways.

Man that was just awesome. Was all of that created using the C4D. The sea looked great. I know they used some real footage as well but was all the cg stuff C4D?'
thanks for the link raptor

Impressive, those guys got great talent! C4D seems to be a pretty capable tool.

Not all of it. It never is. Alot of post work as well. I just know what was posted on the maxon site.
From what I understand the model and animation were C4D. The water mesh I think they used something inhouse...I think. But I played around with doing it in C4D and it can be done identically. The trick is using layers in the displacement channel with the differrent wave sizes having different animation speeds. There was also a little splash of real water as it crested the big wave.
I'm not sure about the rain & fog. The depth fogging would have been an external NLE using a depth map produced in C4D.
The post compositing work would have been done in another NLE.
Textures probably done first in photoshop then applied in C4D.

Yeah. If you look at the credits, there's just a few people that worked on it.

There's a good thread over at CgTalk with some of the guys who worked on it posting in it:

Thanks for the excellent link loop.
They pretty much cover everything in that thread. So it was all C4D except the little splash, the ocean filler in the background horizon and the rain.
And they used R9.6.
And AE was used for compositing.

This one is good too. Not 3D (the landing boats are though), compositing with video. Pretty cool I thought.
It's in the cafe...so it's easy to miss posts sometimes.

Try adding a plane to the scene and adding the Ocean Shader. Experiment with the settings to get the right result.
The video is cool, but the final look that makes all of you say "wow" is achieved with a lots of color correction and manipulation and that what makes it so realistic. I don't think that it's possible/ easy to create absolutly photorealistic CG imaginery without doing even a little bit of post work.
