dont worry, it will not be present in the final footage, there is a delay and it gets worse in v cold weather, the xlh1 is an amazing camera, it just some tiny tiny flaws, the evf being one. :)

J,

That only happens in frame-mode, I believe. If you shoot interlaced, the evf lag goes away. It's a common issue with the H1, but like Andii said, it is only in the evf, not on tape. Also, it doesn't happen if you are using an outboard monitor via the component video or SDI ports.

I experienced this too - doing a doco filmmaking course in China with 3 HLH1s - the temp was hovering around freezing, but not too bad, but all 3 cameras exhibited slow VFs! Really frustrating! Even when we kept the cameras in a room with the heater on all night they were still slow...

The problem happens in 50i mode too.

And if you think that you're going to solve the problem by outputting to an external monitor, make sure it is an LCD with a higher resilience to cold weather! We also had an LCD monitor - but it had the same problem... (think it was a Switt)...

I was out in China before in colder weather, for longer, with a Z1 and had no such problems...

It was disappointing to experience this with the Canon - the weather really was not very extreme at all... Fingers crossed that the new camera will improve on this!
