On a recent vacation to New Mexico, my family and I visited the famed Carlsbad Caverns. The caves are selectively lit by spots but overall the light level was extremely dim.
Being the crazy person I am, I opted to shoot with the Extreme on my XHA1. The light was so absurdly low, I had to set the shutter speed to something looney like 1/6th which gave lots of motion blur trails. I was also shooting both handheld and with my Bogen 562B monopod.
This is more experimental than my usual stuff in terms of the atmosphere and the shots...
Anyway, enough of all the superfluous explanation, let's get on with the show:

I'm a big fan of your work and this certainly doesn't disappoint.
The music was perfect for this, very alien and haunting.

Awesome, Steve!
I was expecting much lower lit image, this was awesome. What lens did you use and what speed?
I loved the lit cave walls with the silhouettes moving in the stacato of the shutter speed. Very cool!

All lenses were open.

Once the Letus is on it's really hard to take it off, at least for me.
Great lowlight footage from the A1, here. And, great footage all around as usual.

That is very true. I thought it has one of those quick release thing....well, there are three screws. And they're not the type of screws where I can use my hand to un-screw it.

I meant it's hard to take it off because it's the best thing I ever put on my HVX. LOL. Not because it's actually hard to take it off.
That's REALLY easy.

For those who care, I redid some of the edit and did a bunch of work on the soundtrack and replaced the file. Thanks for taking a look.

You should submit all your expenses while you were in New Mexico. New Mexico will cut you a check for 25% of your in-state costs for the making of this production.

Yeah, that would be nice :)
nice, never used the slow shutter setting but i see how it can really come in handy when you need extra light for documentary style stuff. Just have to be very still with the camera i guess.
How would you say your monopod is, all in all? Very handy? Does it do a good job?

My monopod is almost the best thing that happened to me in recent times. I've put it to great use. I use it all the time for sports events and pretty much anything I shoot that doesn't need a completely still frame.
Highly, and I mean highly, recommended.
ya, it does seem quite practical. i should look into one.
