Hey there,
Anyone have 1080/24p material to post. Preferably raw material to see what the camera can do? Would really appriciate it.

If you have seen 1080/24p hvx200 footage, the HPX500's results are pretty similar... Just a bit sharper, with 2/3" dof, and a lot less noisy (and maybe a 1/2 to full stop extra dynamic range). I will try to post a few seconds for you on monday. Someone else have any allready uploaded?

If you wouldnt bother posting a few secs of material I'd be more than gratefull! And actually havnt seen raw hvx material either... Just pondering on what would be a good cam to purchase for a starting production company. Have a client who requires high quality HD and I'm trying to find out can the HVX or HPX deliver good enough pictutre or will we have to rent a high end camera.

We're in the same boat and decided to go with the HPX500 body and get a used SD lens. With the body, lens, 2 IDX Batteries, 16GB P2 card, we should come in just over $11,000. ALthough it's a few thousand extra over the HVX (well, maybe $5k), the added quality of the picture I think will really set you apart from your competition. Most anyone these days can get into a prosumer style camera, but a full size HD camera will really make you look more professional. Presentation is very important, especially if you are trying to get other clients - they"ll be impressed. That was one of our factors for not going with the Sony EX1. Panasonic also has lease finance options and 2.99% right now on a 24 month lease. You can set it up so you don't owe much of anything to purchase the equipment (like $100) at the end of your term. IMHO

Do you have the DVCproHD codec on your computer?

That means you wont be able to watch the raw footage. Maybe I can convert it to another format.

If its not too much of a hassle I'd be more than gratefull. Easier to make decisions when one knows what he would get :)

I have the clip for you but no where to host it (Its pretty large to avoid compression artifacts) What to do?

How big is the file exactly? If nothing else I could give you a temporary FTP account to a webspace I have.

I believe you can use YouSendit for free with files up to 100MB
http://www.yousendit.com

Might want to give that a try.

If not I have webspace entirely empty..... got like 1000MB or something. You'd just need a FTP program (there's free ones if you don't.) I'd like to see it too.

Great post Kit, that's the kind of info I'm looking for. Always good to see a comparison with actual pricing and the reasons for the decision.

Are you happy with the outcome?
