At around 800x400 pixels, I don't think the standard Marshall V-R70P-HAD is going to cut it. Then again, at $1,300, it's not that expensive.

What other options to we have for that kind of resolution? And if we're willing to pay a bit more, what is out there than can display exactly what the camera is shooting?

PS there's a monitor I saw for about 5 grand that can do 1080p... it's like 10" or something, but I can't remember it's name.

Probably the small panasonic.
I own the 7" marshall you just referenced. It's OK, but you are correct, is it good enough? Well, possibly for composition, but focus - I'm not sure.

Still looking myself, but no way will I drop 5,000 on a small monitor for a 6500 camera.

The Panasonic Steve's talking about is the BT-LH80, and it beats the Marshall like a rented mule. It has pixel-to-pixel display modes for showing you exactly what you're getting, and it's a professional display. Search for Jay Nemeth's review, he had the Marshall and then got the Panasonic and had some comical things to say about the Marshall after getting the Panny.

Very true, the panasonic smokes that Marshall, for sure!

I'm thinking more about getting this one:

model TCHD-01b

This is our High Definition Monitor HD-SDI (1) model:
•8.4" LCD screen
•1024 x 768 pixels
•500:1 (typ) Contrast
•85° Right, 85° Left, 85° Up ,85° Dn Viewing
•16.7 million colors
•350+ cd/m² Luminance
•(1)HD-SDI, RGB Compnt. , DVI, S-Video, Composite, VGA
•480p, 576p, 720p, 1035i, 1080i, 1080p

http://www.lsdsgn.com/

it's about 1500.- but it has as well 1080p and would be great for my EX1 with my new Let extreme...

what do you think about it?
cose all the others I've seen so far on this price class were like just 1080i...but I wanna use 1080p...

Clearly, with regards to imaging performance, the lsdsgn "Carrion C" beats everything in its price point. To get 1024x768 resolution, you'd have to spend nearly 5 grand to get on-camera imaging like that in Pani form (the BT-LH900A).

However, it seems like the Pani offers features that the Carrion doesn't beyond just good imaging, e.g:

• Focus Assistance includes a Focus-in-Red function (the outlines turn red when sharp focus is achieved) and a Pixel-to-Pixel 2.4X function (to help sharpen focus)

Does anyone have a review of the "Carrion C"? Also, does the Carrion C support four-pin XLR power?

i suggest the 8.4" Panasonic BT-LH900A. It's expensive but once you use it you won't want to use anything else.

Filmmagik,

Just notice this thread. I will be providing a 4 pin xlr power connector to it, as well as a power tap connector.

Should be out shortly.

I'll post something about that when they are out.

Sincerely,

Luis
