Well my department that I work for finally bought a camera. We got the HVX. I just pulled everything out of the box to make sure everything was sent correctly.
The only issue I have is that the company that we bought from cut the UPC off the box. I assume they sent it in for a refund themselves. How much is the refund on the HVX right now?

Its a beautiful camera, good luck. Double check that your HVX is updated for 16 GB P2 cards before you begin filming important stuff

Let's start with what company you bought from?
Because that sounds a little suspicious particularly if this was a new purchase.

Did you get a P2 card and my HVX Book in the box? If so, you have the latest and there is no rebate.
If you didn't get those items, the company you bought it from has cheated you out of the last rebate which was about $700 worth of stuff IIRC.

I just got my HVX yesterday and was pleasantly surprised when I found a copy of The HVX Book in the box. Was up late last night reading it. Good stuff.

I would check out why the company cut off the UPC code. That does sound strange.

Did you buy it from an authorized Panasonic dealer?

Ted:
I asked about which company he purchased from a couple of days ago.
Oddly, no response

Yup, sounds like these guys pre-rebated, keeping the Free card and Book. No doubt selling them separately.
Of course, I'm just saying it "sounds" like this.
Please don't go chewing them out until you confirm it wasn't an honest mistake. Then turn them into Panisonic.

its a spiral bound book, blue front cover, titled "The HVX Book" by Barry W. Green. Nice heavy stock with coated pages, definitely not a panny manual. approx 9"x6"x.75". sorry no pic, but I hope that helps.

good deal, got it... now just trying to figure out why they would cut the UPC off the box if there was no rebate on this particular camera? that is correct, there is not a rebate on this package since it is the up to date package???

There's no rebate on any product bought after Dec. 1st, IIRC. If you got the free 16GB card you'd know it, as there'd be one in the box. If you didn't get the free card, and you bought from a US Authorized Dealer after Dec. 1st, then you got cheated. If you bought from someone other than a US Authorized dealer, then, well, you get what you get for going gray market; either they cut the UPC off to make some sort of deal or whatever but no 16GB card will be coming from that package.
