anybody have any experience with this lens?

I'm looking into getting a 28mm Nikon lens for my redrock. I've seen some f2.5 vivitars on ebay for decent prices. I've looked for reviews but couldn't find anything on them. I know it's not the best piece of glass, but has anyone used one with an adapter?

I have two decent Vivitar lenses (90mm F2.5VMC, 135mm F2.8) but the other couple I have are misses. Hot spots in the centers. Even the Zeiss Tessar I have exhibits a hotspot in the center of the image and that's something quite unpleasant lookin'.

Google the lens and see what you find. If you haven't purchased a 28mm or 35mm, you might want to look into the Nikon 17-35mm that everyone talks about. If that's too much money, you could take a try on the F2.5 28mm Vivitar?

If the auction I'm looking at doesn't get to high, I may just buy it for the hell of it. If anything, I'll end up with a 28mm lens for my D40 if it doesn't work out with the redrock.

It'll always be a 28mm but will not have the same angle of view that it would have on a film camera. (more like a 44mm)
