So I am doing a promo that will be displayed on a 4K (resolution) wall that consists of 2 (rear) projectors. We're using our HPX500 and so obviously there's some scalling that will be done.

My question is, anyone have advice on best to shoot. I was assuming with DVCproHD 1280x1080i was the best bet. But should I consider 720p for some reason or something I am not thinking of?

Any advice is appreciated.

and to follow up (since I am used to shooting 720p) I should be shooting 1080i/24PA, right? Not 60i?

Here is what i would do...

Yes, Record 1080/24pa

1.Shoot softer in camera (lower the detail a bit) and tru to shoot with the lens stoped down to around f4-f5.6 if using an eng lens (for maximum sharpness)
2.Export a sequence (after your final edit)
3. batch process the images in Photoshop cs3 with the "smart sharpen" feature using lens blur. followed by a 4k blow-up using the program "blow-up" by alien skin software. Maybe even use their "exposure 2" to achieve a realistic film like response.
4. Using quicktime pro, import your final image sequence @ 4k to be played back @ 24p. Export it as a jpeg2000 (I am guessing thats what the projector wants, but check with your projectionist)

I think you will see a major increase in quality if you do some intensive post-sharpening and scaling/ noise reduction in post vs. playing 1080/24pa to be unscaled real-time to a 4k projector.
