Hi all,
Got my IndiFocus Pro today. I decided to get my gears from RR, which haven't arrived, so I have to wait to test it in the field. But when I turn the wheel I notice that it turns with little bumps in friction. What I mean is, its like evenly spaced notches, so when you turn it it goes d d d d d d d. It isn't perfectly smooth. When I throw the speed-crank on there I don't really notice it because of the extra leverage, but without the crank it is obvious and makes my turning a little uneven and sticky. I had the regular IndiFocus before, and decided to go with the Pro for the upgrades, but there was no bumpiness in the turning with that model. The bumpiness seems to come from inside the gear box when the gears advance and might be a result of fixing the issue of too much play in the previous model. I'm just wondering if other people have noticed this and/or if I have a problem here... Is this a normal thing with other models of FF systems that the previous indifocus was missing or something?
thanks,
sns

My unit kinda stutters but I wouldn't say enough to be distracting from pulling focus. It works fine but than again this is my first follow focus unit so I may not be very much help.:undecided

thanks for the reply. I'm curioius to hear what others say. If you haven't, try the speed crank, it makes it much smoother.

So if I understand you correctly, you dont have your lens gears yet. Meaning you havent tried the indifocuspro mounted to your lens/lens gear? If so, wait til you get your redrock lens gears or whatever lens gears you are waiting for. Equip it, and get back to us.

When I received my indifocuspro, I remember turning the wheel on the unit and thinking "that aint so smooth." For some reason, its just like that when free spinning the gear driver, but when the gear driver is actually driving the lens gear, its smooth. You should be able to apply pressure with your finger to the base of the gear driver to emulate being mounted against a lens gear, then turn the wheel. You should feel the difference.
