Has anyone tried to match these 2 cameras? I may have a shoot that needs some slo- mo shots and they are using the HDX900 and wanted to see if my HPX500 could match the HDX900....thanks

You can definitely dumb down the HDX900 such that a 500 can match it perfectly. But the 900 has a lot of parameters that the 500 can't match, so spend some time with some charts and a waveform monitor. I had to do this same task at the Iditarod, I had to match an HPX500 against the HPX2000s (which are the same basic camera head as the HDX900). It can be done, but it takes some work to match them.

You may wish to note that the effective sensor resolution on the HPX500 is only 960x540. The HPX2000 has native 1280x720 sensors just like the HDX900.
As far as color and latitude is concerned, you'll really need to match the HDX900 to your HPX500. Simply put, the HDX900 will have to sacrifice image quality to match the 500.
Consider shooting your slow motion with the HPX500 on a setting that simply gives you the best latitude (dynamic range) and allowing the colorist to enhance the image in post. I wouldn't bother too much with trying to match it with the HDX other than perhaps white balance.
