Hi all, I am producing two cooking shows to air on regional cable, they have to be delivered on beta sp. i have 2 hvx200's . should I shoot dvcpro50 which I understand is 4:2 color sampling and equivelent to digi beta or should I shoot 720/30, I am not well versed in the different HD modes yet. Any suggestions?

If they are being mastered to Betacam there doesn't seem to be much point in shooting HD unless you'd like to archive it. I suppose it would be smart to shoot on DVCPRO 50 and have nice clean footage to work with but by the time you dump down to Betacam you're going to lose some of that. Guess I'd calculate how much card space I had and use that as the determining factor between DVCPRO 50 or 25. As far as progressive vs. interlace that is a matter of personal taste. I thing 24 or 30p always looks better but maybe a cooking show needs the immediacy of straight up 60i.

thanks for the quick reply you I agee the 60i works well as it is a live to tape show i have the card space to equip both cams with 64 gigs of card. each cam can shoot 1 half hour show per 16 gigs in dvcpro50
