I am horrible with the mouse sometimes when doing things in photoshop. Im thinking about buying a writer tablet especially when I see some for like 40-60 dollars at tigerdirect.com and newegg.com. My question is which ones are good and the ones that are 4x6 big enough to be useful?

I wouldn't buy anything but a Wacom, they start at $99. I would not recommend picking up any of those cheaper brands they are a waste of money.

Get the Wacom Intuos 3 if you can afford it.

I'm having problems with newegg so I can't check out that link. Like Tom said if you can afford the Intuos3 (starts at $369) thats your best best, if that is out of your budget then go with the Bamboo series (starts at $79)

You would be much happier with a Intuos 3, trust me. But if price is the main factor, you could go with the Bamboo one. You can never go wrong with the Wacoms no matter which model you get.
I got my tablet from Provantage:

I'm currently saving up for a Cintiq 12WX, but it will probably be a while till I get that.

the 12x12 wacom I bought in 1989 is still running strong in the hands of a friend of a friend, with never a single problem. I still use my 1995 Wacom Digitizer II daily and other than the fact its beige and dirtier than a hobo I have no complaints. It has a friggin SERIAL port interface. I will upgrade when i cant get a computer with a serial port I guess. Wacoms never die and will live longer than the cockroaches after the apocalypse.
On a side note does anyone know that Reverend Sun Myung Moon (Remember the Moonies?) owns Wacom. You are directly supporting a "Messiah".
"WACOM corporation is owned by the Happy World holding company which is the financial holding company for True World Foods and other businesses whose beneficiaries are the Unification church and Rev. Sun Myung Moon and family."

The Graphire 4 (http://www.wacom.com/graphire/6x8.cfm) is a great entry level tablet that you will get alot of use out of. BUT, make sure you get the 6x8 and not the 4x5. The size really does make a difference, and while it is $100 more, if you get the 4x5 you will quickly fall in love with the tablet and even quicker...ly wish you bought a larger size. It's cheaper to spend $200 on the 6x8 than to spend $100 on the 4x5 THEN $200 on the 6x8.
If you have the extra money, do it right and get the middle of the road Intuos 3 9x12. Somewhat pricey, but still less than Como spent on a website.
Como's website or a 9x12 Intuos 3. Should be an easy choice.
