32GB on an SD card. Wow, that is insane data-density.
Makes my laptops 60GB hard drive seem prehistoric.

64GB P2 cards area already in beta/field testing ... and I'm sure 128's are well in development too.

Ha ya, but even when those are out, someone will still be asking "when's the 32tb cards coming out? I need more recording time"

You 16TB card would take more than two days to transfer data on or off.

If I were going to pick a size for P2 cards to die, it would be 1TB.

It would take two days in nowadays computers. But who knows what we'll have when (hypothetically) the 16tb come out. Computers may have 20 1tb/s data rate ot more:thumbsup:

Imagine you can record the AVCHD on new SD cards for more then 3 hours and they provide free software converter from Main Concept to convert it into DVCPRO HD now you can mix with HVX200. $2000 camera and recording media is on SD cards and convert it to profession codec and nobody can tell how you shoot it. I tested in a good light conversion from AVCHD to DVCPROHD and then copy the footage on P2 cards and played it on HVX200 the funny part is AVCHD has Dolby 5.1 audio so I have six audio channel after conversion to P2.

Professional and consumer merging fast.

That's based on the maximum throughput over the PCMCIA interface, so yes, P2 is kneecapped a bit as it grows. It's not the kind of technology that will be alive and kicking in ten years. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but those of us on the cutting edge are buying the Commodore 64s of the future. Sony's decision to use expresscard media in their solid-state cams will buy them an extra 5 or 6 years, probably.

IF their system survive that long. From Dealers I heard that the after inital few adaptor the sale went down. It not even two month of the realese. They promise lots of broadcaster the HD XDCAM so having two media and two different format SONY keep up with new format every year slogan.

Just used the 32GB cards this week on a documentary. You can shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot. Oh man, I can scarcely remember what it was like with the 4GB cards back in the '70s.

What a joke.
