I'm looking back up my files from an HOUR long film. needless to say that's a HUGE task and even worse bc some of the files are WAY over 4.7 gigs. In fact, several are around 17 gigs (whew!)
anyhow, was wondering if anyone had tried using Blu ray ?
Pros cons?
how to connect to a laptop?
I mean i know almost nothing about them at this point, except that they hold 25 beautiful gigs on each disc.
so ... any experience / hints / tips / advice?

I looked into it. The burners are really pricey and there was only one I saw that could hook up to a laptop. I assumed the technology was already widely available. I think not.
It is one of the reasons I am happy to have an A1 which shoots tape sometimes. I can at least have a full rez backup of my footage - even when I shoot tapeless with a firestore.
At this point you would be better off buying a hard drive. You could buy a couple of terabytes for the price of the cheapest burner.

most are internal drives that replace your exisitng drive. however there is one plug n play USB/firewire device.
hope this helps.
