I noticed today the letters NC NG in the middle of the camera both in eye viewer and side viewer.. any of you know what this is? Error message.. if so what error?

i noticed this today as i was testing out new 19 720p lcd hd tv (samsung) i plan to use in the field for compositing and focus. Any takers on what this means? I was simply testing. no recording. no p2 cards. simply hooked up the comp-cable to hd tv and turned on camera and started to test focusing.

I have seen "ND NG" when the ND switch is stuck between settings. I have never seen "NC NG" I would check the manual in the troubleshooting section.

You are probably right and i typed NC instead of ND. Any idea how to correct this?

Yes, make sure that the ND switch is exactly clicked in on the ND setting. If you move the ND switch and it doesn't lock into place, you will get that warning.

Reporting back. I take it this had to do with the gain switch...? Anyways i turned on my camera last night and made sure the gain switch was set correctly and not stuck between two settings.

thanks,

It's the neutral density filter switch, not the gain switch. It's on the left side of the camera just above the iris control. It's marked 1/8, 1/64 and off. Make sure it's not inbetween the settings and the "ND NG" warning should go away.
