so i bought the century optics 2x telephoto from BH photo video in NY. It said it comes with a lens shade and support sliders.
I got the lens and shade but no sliders? just this little black thing that looks like it would hold the rails on either side and sit underneath the lens.
am i meant to buy the rails myself?

Ummm those things that hook on the rails are support sliders it sounds like. Most accessories (matteboxes, follow focuses, etc) dont come with rails just rail mounts.

just got the answer...u have to get some 15mm support rods for it. Not sure if i can afford them right now. the lens is fairly heavy, do you think it would be ok on the camera till i get some rods?

just for people in the future....century optics/shneider optics recommend using the DS-SP15-SP1 rod/base plate device to hold up your lens if you feel you need to. you can find them here at b&h http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/427100-REG/Century_Precision_Optics_0DS_SB15_SP1_DS_SB15_SP1_ 15mm_Rod_Camera.html

Operating without rods will put strain on your lens and the lens threads.
Damaging those threads will cause to have to replace the whole HVX built in lens...I would wait for the relatively cheap (compared to the entire lens assembly) support rods to arrive.
