Hey guys,

I just started shooting with the HVX 200 to tape last week, and I have a doozy of a problem on my hands. I shot a snowboarding competition in scene file F6 (filmcam). Recording setup is 480i/24P.

So I have 24p footage right? Well, for whatever reason, my Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 will not capture at that framerate. When the clip is done capturing, and I click on "Item Properties" it says that the "vid rate" is 29.97. And obviously I went into capture setup options and switched them to "DV-NTSC 24p (23.98)"

I do not have this same problem with the P2 card stuff, nor do I have this problem with older 24p stuff I shot with my DVX.

THE PROBLEM IS ONLY OCCURRING WITH STUFF I SHOT TO TAPE ON THE HVX 200.

Any ideas?

If I'm not mistaken, FCP is telling you that the VIDEO rate is NTSC 29.97. (As opposed to PAL 25). No matter how you shoot, mini DV tape outputs at 29.97.
The frame rate should still be 24P across 60 fields of interlaced video in a 3:2 pulldown as laid on the tape by the camera.
If I am wrong please correct me.

But when I go to the item properties for the other clips I've digitized, I am told that the "vid rate" for those are 23.98.

So other stuff I shot with my DVX does has a "vide rate" of 23.98 and everything I shoot to tape on my HVX has a "vide rate" of 29.97.

The video is slightly stuttery, so I know that something is wrong in the capture process.
