Hi everybody :)

A bit of newbie questions, but here it is.

1. As i understand the signal being output from the HXV200´s component port is uncompressed correct ?

2. What about the firewire port. is the signal being compressed when You capture over the firewire port ?

The reason i´m asking is because i´m preparing for a bluescreen shooting using the HVX200, in conjuction with the Reflecmedia backdrop & the blue lite ring. I am interested in knowing if i should use the Firewire port & capture 720, or go for component and use SD. I do not have a P2 card yet, so capture is the only option.

3. I have also been looking for an "ideal" setting for the XVX200 for shooting bluescreen. I found this superb link from Jim Arthur

http://www.imageshoppe.com/HVX_bluescreen2.html

But i would like to know what settings on the camera itself would be the best when it comes to gamma setting, detail setting e.t.c.

Help would be most appreciated, thank You in advance

Anders

Firewire outputs DVCProHD at the high end in every format but pNative.

Most reports indicates it keys well.

Yes.

2. What about the firewire port. is the signal being compressed when You capture over the firewire port ?Yes, to DVCPRO-HD.

Read up on it before you commit to it -- mainly about the gray penumbra/shadow, and make sure you're using a keyer that can deal with that.

Search for more posts from Jim Arthurs, he listed his "recipe" (including detail level -3, etc).

Thank You Barry

I have been working with the Reflecmedia product for some time now (shooting with my previous camera, DVX 100).

The problem there was the hard compression on the DV tapes, and lack of a good output signal for capturing (S-video was the best alternative).

The problem You mention about the penumbra/shadow is quite true, but i use the keyer plugin from Reflecmedia for Premiere Pro 2, and i must say it´s fantastic for footages shot on the Reflecmedia cloth. Playing with the different controls in the keyer gives You the ability to key out the shadow without any significant quality/outline loss. The main advantage with the Reflecmedia solution is the lighting part, where a non lit background gives You an absolute uniform blue/green background (no garbage whatsoever).

I would however like to try a regular keing test with the HVX200 to see what kind of result i could achieve compared to the Reflecmedia keying solution. My problem is the lack of space in a studio for setting up a good blue key backdrop.

I have searched several times for this thread by Jim Arthur with no luck :crybaby:. Do You (or someone else) have a link to this thread by any chance ??

By the way......does anybody have suggestions to a really good keyer plugin/software?? I mainly use Premiere and AE.

Would appreciate it

Anders
