Since at least Avid does not handle 35bit file recorded from the PMW-EX1 camera, I tried switch the format to SP 1024/24. However, when I recorded the footage and look at the clip information, this is what it says:

Resolution: 1440 x 1080
Frame rate: 59.94i

So my question is, why is the frame rat 59.94i when the format I set in the camera says 24? Is this normal of this format mode in the camera? I was looking for a 24p frame rate in the 25bit so that at least for now I can edit in Avid.

In SP, you only can get 24PsF within 60i - must use pull-down removal to get 24fps.

In HQ, you get native 24p (or 25p).

Avid Liquid handels 1080p 25p, 24p and 29,97 1920x1080 footage from EX1 as .mxf without any problems here. mp4 doesn't work though.
Ok, its not Avid.

Maybe we should start a software support thread here :)

I already tried the utility posted by Brad in that thread and it's so darn slow. A one minute clip took several hours to convert. And it doesn't seem to work for me either when imported into Avid. I couldn't even play the clip in Avid. That is why I resort back to 25Mb instead of 35Mb but then it comes back into Avid as 60i instead of 24p; thus, I post the question in this thread.

Okay, so back to the Moldcad's answer. How do I use the pull down to remove the extra frames so that I get the 24p? Is it something that simple or do I have to use software like Magic Bullete to create a 24p?

And on more thing, with that utility, a 225MB file turns into a 1GB file size.
