Hi,

We would like to purchase a hvx500 package with fujinon lens and 4 P2 16 Go + 2 anton bauer batteries + titan charger.

We have some questions about the battery mount on the camera :
1 - The battery mount is it present in the package ?
2 - If not, whitch mount is for the hpx500 : is it the QR-DSR Gold mount battery Plate witch is adapted for sony camcorders ?

We also have a marshall lcd and we would like to power the lcd with the anton bauer battery, is the dionic 90 is adapted to power both hpx500 and the marshall or we have to buy a dionic 160 ?

Thanks for your replies

Hi,

It is a standard Anton Bauer Gold Mount on the camera, right out of the box.

There is a DC12V (DC11.0 to 17.0V), max 1.5 A on the HPX500, not sure if that is enough to work with the Marshall, it is enough to work with the Panasonic BT-LH80W. If it is then all you need to have your dealer do is to make the special cable to attach. Either there or on the side of the mount there is a battery tap and you would need a special cable there as well, but most systems dealers wouldn't have a problem in making up these cables.

I think the 160 while being a great battery would become very heavey over the course of one day, I think I would prefer the balance of the 90 and swap them out as they get expended.

BTW, the brochure for the camera is online at www.panasonic.com/broadcast under the Cinema Cameras section and on the 500's individual page. You can see the battery mount for yourself as well as the power connection, which is the female side of an Hirose HS10A, I believe.

Hope this helps,

Jan

Seriously dont be afraid of IDX batteries. Everyone on this forum seems to love AB. ... I have nothing against them, but I have ran side by side and seen the results. Your paying more for AB and getting not a lot more... really. Im running IDX batteries and running Panasonic BT-LH80W's of the 500s DC out as mentioned by Jan. Not a complaint by me or on rental.

Hello Duol,

Another alternative to AB batteries are Switronix 3-Stud batteries.

We are a dealer for them and they have a good selection of batteries, chargers and Battery/Charger packages. This is nice since you don't have to switch out the plate on the back and the batteries are bit cheaper than the AB batteries.

Oh, and we are also a dealer for the HPX500. Please let me know if you need me to get a quote over to you.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies,

In fact we are french from New Caledonia, so we have to purchase on a international website and we want hpx500 package because it's cheaper.

The marshall is the V-R70P-HDA, do you know if it could be powered by the AB 90 dionic ?

We would like to purchase before 12/31/2007 to have panasonic 5 year warranty but it is compromised. Do you know if this offer will last in 2008 ?

Which idx battery is adapted for the hpx500 ?

Thanks very much

Regards

Happy new year !

what would be the perfect adapter to go from anton bauer to v-mount on the HPX500
I already have vmount batteries and don't want to buy antons.

You could remove the A/B plate and replace it with a v-mount plate.

IDX makes an AB to V-mount adapter. We use one all of the time. Its just a few millimeters thick and weighs almost nothing.

As Hunter says the adapter is the simplest method, or if you do want to change the plate as mentioned by Barry its pretty straight forward to do so.

And what's about this type of battery, they are very cheap batteries and compatible with Gold Mount :

call me a brand snob but when I am putting a battery on a 15,000 dollar camera I prefer it to be a name brand that I know has a history of playing nice. I have strongly considered cheaper off market models but I would just be too nervous.

I got a set of 90wh A/B mount batteries from Batteries4Broadcast.com and I have been really impressed with them. The D-taps work great too.

I agree it would sux to have a 15000 camera and not have reliable batteries. We went with anton bauer after a long search. We have a couple of friends who use the sony and idx v-mount batteries and they have had good success with both.
