I'm trying to figure out why when I shoot with my pv-dv953 the footage is slightly foggy vs a live firewire capture.
Repro:
I opened vegas and opened capture video.
Camera on and in record mode.
Start live capture in vegas and also press the record button on the camera to record to the DV tape.
Capture the DV tape footage.
Align and compare the 2
Result, the live firewire capture is sharper then the DV tape capture.
This is a brand new dv tape...
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this? The only thing I have not tried is head cleaning, which I don't have a cleaner tape, and from what I have read, I can't find an answer to the symptom. Do DV tape drives need periodic demagnetizing? I have not an idea.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
