Warranty void?

Hey I have a question that I heard in one forum not related to this site. Someone said if you reset your camcorder using a pin back to factory settings you will void the warranty. My question or questions then are (1) Is this true? (2) And if so, if the camera is back to factory settings then how would they know you reset it?

The camcorder is of course dvx100b model.

The reset will not void your warranty. This has to be Urban Myth.
