Any recommendations for a small field monitor. Abelcine was pushing the 17 inch on me but the 8 inch was fine when I was at someone else's shoot. Although I'm looking at a picture connected to the top of the camera and was curious if people knew which model number of Panasonic that was and what the connection was....thanks

I have the BT-LH80W and its perfect for the job IMO. The 17 inch is better. But if your the camera op and DP, or you have a focus puller this little brother perfect.
Built in waveform on an 8 inch monitor!!!!!!!! The only tiny issue I have with it, is that is stuck in the bottom right corner and cant be moved. (small thing though IMO).
Then, specifically for the initial purposes I mentioned. The focus in red function, will let a focus puller/camera op hit it everytime, its just so easy to see your focus point and use. Then on top you can go to 1:1 pixel map which which show you part of your FOV up close so you can really nail it, but I find that generally less useful unless its a set tripod shot.
What else. You can get a 12v power tap cable that runs into the back of your cam so then you can completely do away with attaching a heavy battery to the monitor itself (carry extra batteries though).
The monitor has an SDI option, you must request it. I have it, though I seriously can see little dfference between the SDI and analog component.
You mentioned field monitor so thats where I tried to keep it, but want to add the 17 is going to be a better studio reference monitor also.

I have the 17 inch, and it is sue-weet! But I really think that the BT-LH80W is the way to go for remote stuff. The red-focus just can't be beat (IMO). I have to get one!

Weve been using the Marshall V-R70P-HDA 7inch for field work. Wouldnt want anything bigger. Pretty rugged little monitor and not a bad price - $1,500 I think, but Id like to try the Pana.
You can run V lock battery or XLR power
