Is the HPX500 a broadcast camcorder ?? The BBC will only except 25% of any production shot on the HVX200 and i think Discovery HD is the same.

So is the HVX500 considered the same as the 200 by broadcasters.

I know that the BBC have approved the HpX 3000 for production but this camera is out of my price range.

The 500 is a 2/3" camera which shoots 1080 and records in DVCPRO 100, which is what they're looking for.

AFAIK the HPX uses the same pixelshifting as the HVX.

But I'd be surprised if it wasn't acceptable.

Ask them. That's a pretty good idea.

Cheers!

I don't think pixel-shifting is an issue -- it's an old, tried-and-true method common to many cameras.
