Hi, I have just purchased a HV20, and I think it has been possessed by Elvis.

I know there are a lot of threads on this site and others about HV20 wobble, but I haven't seen anything like this, has any one else?

http://www.hv20.info/yopu/Shimmer_HDViTv120OISoff.mp4

I have had a look round the site and found general advice on what might be causing my rippling vertical lines but applied it without effect and thought perhaps my problem is something different since it does not relate to shooting from a car/vibration and my problem looks so different to the 'wobble' in other threads.

I stand still in my garden, pan very slowly left, then right and back. When I start panning, the vertical straight-lines in the video start to shimmy / ripple / move like a snake in motion / take on a wave form.

I am stationary and just turning from my hips. I captured the images using HDVsplit and watch the m2t’s in VLC media player / windows media player.

I have tried all permutations of these settings:
OIS on off for shutter speeds 50, 120, 2000 shooting in both interlaced and progressive HDV (pal).

I was expecting turning the OIS off and reducing the shutterspeed to improve the problem with the settings producing the best image being: OIS off, tv120 i HDV.

What I found:
1. Shooting in progressive improved the problem but instead the whole image flickers / judders / jerks as though your eyeballs are rattling when you ride a bike on a bumpy surface.
2. OIS didn’t seem to make much difference, in i or p.
3. Shutter speed didn’t make much difference, in i or p.

I have also tried filming on DV tv120 with OIS on and off, capturing in vegas. The avi files don’t display the line shaking problem but flicker a bit. And quality is not what I was after.

PLEASE any clues....(I was hoping to use this camera for some mountain biking and sports type shooting and right now I can’t even pan a bridge at .0 mph without it shaking into jelly or flickering!!) (On reading more and more of these threads I could have screwed up by buying HV20 with sports in mind)

Thanks in advance for any assistance. (Don't forget I'm on PAL).

Regards
Jack
