So I was filming over the thanksgiving break for another video contest and I was really looking forward to getting back up to school and editing. All I could think about before I came back up to school was putting my video together in my head.....Unfortunately I returned home Sunday only to find that all of my stuff was stolen....My custom editing PC and my laptop along with all external hard drives, tripod, all cables plus tons of other non video gear....It was pretty devastating....
Fortunately, I took my DVX home with me over break because that camera pretty much goes where ever I go....I was pretty bummed to lose all of my stuff but extremely happy at the same time for deciding to take my camera home with me over break...

Fortunately I was able to get a hold of another laptop with Adobe Premiere Pro on it so I could upload my footage....Unfortunately my DVX battery was dead and for some reason I had left my battery charger in my apartment which was also stolen....

So THEN I called everyone I knew in the area with a DVX and FORTUNATELY I got ahold of someone that let me borrow their charger....So after all the running around and scrounging up editing gear, I was able to upload my footage and edit it monday night.....(The contest ended at 9 pm that monday)

I wasn't able to edit it together by the due date but around 4 in the morning Tuesday I was able to finish it and it was something I was pretty happy with...Nothing too special but it was a video my family was involved in so I wanted to get it done so I could show them as well....

My video was late but I still submitted it...And it was a bit longer than the others...lol....Plus the quality after putting it on youtube is horrible....But hey...I guess you could say I found some closure because I couldn't concentrate on anything else until I got this done....Here's the link to it if you guys wanna check it out and rate it if you like.....(Warning:Bad youtube compression!)

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with you all...Because I know you guys can empathize with me over this situation....My DVX is really all I have at the moment but I couldn't be happier I still have my camera....This camera never leaves my side....lol....Cheers

Yeah... "sucks" doesn't even really describe it... but at least you're looking on the bright side.

Sorry to hear about it, my friend.

Man that bites. KARMA will get the best of them in the end. Still, my favorite DVX story was one posted here about a year or so ago. The guy just got a brand new DVX100B and took it out to his local park for some trial runs. Some homeless guy approached him and tried to mug him for it. The DVX owner used the handle and swatted the guy over the head with the camera... no damage to the DVX and the mugger ran away with a bloody head. I tried to find that post... but no luck.

Update: So turns out that the guy who has my PC has been down in Seattle using it for the past couple weeks....I was able to find this guy thanks to logmein remote control desktop! The guy just got on the internet and when I was checking to see if it had signed on, sure enough he was using my PC....So over the past couple weeks the police got a warrant to search this guys place and believe it or not they went to his place the other day and arrested the guy and got my computer back! I was ecstatic! Unfortunately they didn't find the rest of my stuff, the dude who had my PC said he bought it from "some guy" and wouldn't say anything else...So as of now one guy is in jail on hold for questioning and possible prosecution and I will be getting my computer back next month! Not a bad month....I'm off to Vegas in the morning to celebrate my 21st, wish me luck!
