UPDATE - Both of these scripts have been taken. Thanks and look for them both in the festival! - John
As I've done with SpyFest and All Hallow's Fest, I have written some scripts that are available for dvxuser members to use for LoveFest.
About myself: I'm a graduate from Boston University with a B.S. in Film and Broadcasting. I have interned as a script-reader, and as a writer for WSBK in Boston. I wrote numerous scripts for dvxusers for SpyFest, three of which made it into the festival: No Middle Ground (1st place winner!), Robin the Spy, and Spying for Fun and Profit. Two All Hallow’s scripts I wrote were made into films: One Way Out (I made this one myself) and Buzz’s Last Halloween. I’m also currently working on several other independent projects.
About you: you want to make a film for LoveFest, but either you can't write, don't want to write, or can't come up with a good idea.
The scripts are 100% original material and written to conform with LoveFest rules (with one caveat, see the script descriptions)---Both are just a hair over five pages to conform to the six minute time limit and would be considered to have an R rating or below. Sorry, no hard-core pornography.
Additionally, they are written for generic locations and actors that you can feasibly get without massive set construction or spending a bundle. You can get as creative with them as you like, however.
This go-around, I have only two scripts available. Although I had several ideas that I developed into scripts, I’m only offering up what I think is the cream of the crop.
1.The Double Date (http://www.mediamax.com/jlabonney/Hosted/The%20Double%20Date%20v2.pdf) – Comedy. In order to get a date, a guy has to find a date for his girlfriend’s seriously undesirable sister. When working on this one I realized that it might stretch the rules a little. So I sent it to Larry R for review, and he has approved the script as qualifying with LoveFest rules.
2.Blind Date (http://www.mediamax.com/jlabonney/Hosted/BlindDatev2.pdf) – Romance. A guy gets set up on the blind date of a lifetime. Be aware, this script does not contain the required element of a camera. It is suggested that the filmmaker insert a camera as a background item in one of the scenes. Here’s the deal:
Click on the links above and review the scripts. If you want to make one of them your own, send me a PM, and I’ll confirm with you that the script hasn’t yet been claimed. At that point, it is yours for your exclusive use for LoveFest. In the extremely unlikely event that more than one person wants the same script, the earliest sent PM shall prevail.
You agree to make a good-faith effort to get the entry made and give me screen credit. If you don’t feel like you’ll be able to complete the film, please consider passing and letting another member use it. It’s been an honor for me to have had the filmmakers here put their time, money, and effort into turning my scripts into films for SpyFest and All Hallow’s Fest. Realize my effort is in these scripts as well. Just because they’re free doesn’t mean they’re of no value. So please, if you’re not serious about making the film, pass. Fair enough?
You may modify the script or any of the elements in it as you please. I’ll help with re-writes if you like, or you can tear it apart yourself.
These scripts are free; any prizes that you might win are yours to keep. I simply want to participate in LoveFest, just like you! Also, if you have a concept you'd like developed into a script, contact me; I'll be happy to give it a try.
These scripts are for you! Should they be claimed by dvxuser members, I'll update this thread to indicate which are still available.
Finally, I wanted to say that I am considering my own film for LoveFest, although I haven’t made a final decision yet. I won’t use any of the scripts I’ve offered, however I just wanted to let you know up-front that I might join the competition.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do with them!
Thanks,
John LaBonney
