I wasn't really getting any feedback in the Nikon area, so I thought I'd share these in the open, feedback appreciated. I'm going to do more of these in the future, they were lots of fun to shoot. This was a shoot I did for my wife on her Birthday a couple days ago...

The second and third are my two favorites... but I really like your style with the color headshots... I'm still thinking there's a little trick you aren't telling us there ;-)

Thanks Matt. No secret to my color headshots, pretty straight forward, still learning though. Only been at this for about 6 months now. I think my latest shots have improved though.
Thanks man.

I like the first and the third
the lighting on the second one seems a lil flat to me, but then I'm sure this is a tough shot to balance, I would not know where to start myself so, at the end of the day it's still a good shot ...
Fourth shot , IMO (which is totally amteure) I just think you have more ability, I can see what you're going for,,, the eyes and nose are sharpest then gradually everything else goes to soft focus but I can plainly make out a hard shadow in the back and the Christmass lights, Blah !!
I would have split that shadow 2 or 3 directions really soft, and hid the wire of the lights hanging the behind a shower curtain to diffuse any sign of the wire.
All in all any critisism I'm offering is to help not hurt .. I applaude you your shots indicate one who is learning to compose and I do not shoot as well as you yet.
cheers

Hey alveraz...I like these and would really like to try my hand at some portraits but...No wife!:) The lighting on the third image looks a little too hot and it blows out some of her facial fearures. The last one reminds me of "Amelie" What kind of flash setup were you using here? I'm thinking of using my Rostronics video lights for a portrait shoot but have no idea if or how that would work.

Thanks Mino. I was trying for something unique in each shot, from a sorta hip thing to old hollywood. I blew that 3rd one out for an effect, but maybe it didn't work, who knows. No flashes, just a softbox and a snoot when needed. Both continuous. Just trying something new here, having fun with the ol' lady.
