Mino, your photographs do more than inspire - they show that what was once thought impossible, very possible.

Your composition and minor editing adjustments seem to work wonders with the pictures you put up. Very impressive.

These look great -- almost surreal.

Do you have a certain process or are you just framing and adjusting exposure?

I think the Olympus e-510 does most of the work, all that's really left for me to do is minor tweaking to get a look I'm happy with. In this case I adjusted the levels a bit to help bring out the shadows and I cropped about ten percent off the top and right side to lose some distracting elements. This was late afternoon in early October and the light was really well suited for the shot, I also use a haze filter when there are clouds about to help bring them out a bit.

Do you use a tripod? My biggest problem is getting a super sharp photo by just using hand held. I do NOT have a steady hand. And I try to combat that in manual mode but I still get a softer result than I'd like. Frustrating.

Tripod? Or hand held and if so what settings do you usually use?

I rarely use a tripod but do try really hard to brace myself against something solid where possible especially at longer focal lengths. I had just bought a new tripod for my e-500 because of the soft shots I was getting. The new e-510 has OIS built into the body and it seems to work well without being locked down. As far as settings I'm all over the map. I usually decide what sort of f stop I want for DOF and then meter with the camera. I like the range of the 45-150mm kit lens and use it almost as a default so camera shake is a big issue for me. I like to shoot in the bright sun of a fall day because the sun is usually low enough on the horizon to still cast some shadows but still provides enough light so I can close the iris and still use fast shutter speeds. I really think the OIS helps out BIG time though:)
The above shot was taken with a 14-42mm lens, focal length 42mm f 11 1/125 sec at 1:54pm October 10

Glad to hear I am not the only one with a camera shake problem. I thought it was just me. Thanks for the reply. And beautiful shot!
