I interviewed Glen Tipton when Judas Priest and Rob Halford came to town a few years ago as an assignment for a metal magazine. Really nice guy. We chatted about his son's new band for a while, too. Got tickets to see them that night at Molson ampitheatre...Slayer was the opening band. Man, those guys play some hard, heavy stuff.

On the way into the Four Seasons hotel , I bumped into Sarah McLachlan.

I ended up sitting across from Kevin Lowe and some other dude from Hockey Canada in the side lobby area. They kept looking at me as they discussed Team canada and hockey people, eyeing me as if I may be listening in...

...I didn't have the heart to tell them I'm a Russian hockey fan.

Go Fetisov!!

Oh, and I like to watch this vid on youtube, since the album is hard to find, and no CD exists...as far as I know.

I'm listening to "Raising Sand" by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

This is an incredibly good album. I hear things in a visual way when I listen to music and there are some albums that are like storybooks in my mind. This happens to be one of those rare disks. Every song is like a short film. Robert Plant is a great artist, there's no doubt about it. His vocals take my breath away on nearly every song. Alison Krauss has the voice of an angel but she pushes herself to be more experimental and the results are nothing short of pure genius.

I highly recommend this. It will get you high in the legal sense. :)

YES... Rush always played 2 nights in Albany...every year in January...I would never miss a show. So much so, we used to hang with the band after the shows at the good old Ramada Inn they use to stay at. Getty was a big influence on my playing. In another life, I was a touring musician '79 - '85, 3 albums (YES, it was vinyl back then kids!). We got lucky and toured opened for a bunch of major acts; Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, Pat Travers, Rainbow, etc... Ahhh, the good years!

Oh my goodness, this song in question looks like a capsule that contains something interesting. I do believe I mentioned this pod shaped song on this social networking website called MySpace where a multitude of pedophiles and other generally creepy and emo people hang out and make e-friends which are more important that regular people friends. But this song looks like a pod still.

Official meaning:

“Pulling a Penguin” Pronunciation: [pen-gwin] –noun

1. Term originally coined by Tom Marshall [1] on the online Internet Filmmakers Forum known as DVXuser, in Liu of the actions of the member Nick Lane alias Conspiracy Penguin. The act of “pulling a Penguin” refers to bringing to light an old thread; sometimes this can lead to confusion amongst other members. The term can be augmented with a phrase to indicate how old the thread is, examples include the use of “Mega Penguin” to denote a very old thread, as well as the use of “Wee Penguin” to denote a slightly old thread and other general combinations of that nature.

Excuse me [clears throat]. I am listening to an amusing and incredibly awesome musical ditty named "God Forbid" by a group of fine young musicians that go by the name POD which is an acronym for "Payable On Death". This particular single (referring to one song usually from an album or group of songs) was just released on MySpace, which is what is called a social networking site where various different people connect with one another generally based on similar interested. On that site "bands" (singing groups) are able to "upload" (technical jargon for placing something on a "server" ergo said things can be retrieved later in various digital ways), songs and others can (if allowed) download (more technical jargon, visave how one would retrieve something that is uploaded), and listen to said song. I hope that clears up the confusion.

Of course! I love that New Orleans/sludge sound... Crowbar, Acid Bath, Soilent Green, etc... and speaking of Down/Mr. Anselmo, I've recently been listening to Pantera again... so good! The Great Southern Trendkill basically got me into more extreme metal when it came out. That and Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve... Thank God for those two records!

Just noticed your question. Yes, as Timur answered, that is Jack in a newer band The Raconteurs.

Here's another good tune by them that has a 'slight' Zep feel: Level (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqFb6VXW86Y)
