Any one got one of these adapters?
Any idea how long it takes to download a 4Gb card using the duel adapter on a mac book pro...
is there any other adapters out there .......PCmia to express card????

I have the same setup, works like a dream. A 4GB should download in about 3 minutes. No other laptop adapters that I know of.

With the Addonics one, just remember:
"Under Mac OS X, Panasonic P2 cards are currently not supported with this adapter."

thats a hearbreaker too, that adapter looks so much better than having that snake of a cable with that hunk of plastic

Thanks for the info Barry, I had never heard of the Addonics. Looks interesting.
Beno, I have had nothing but good things to say about the Duel, it's been great. Yes, I too am not crazy about the cable but from a working viewpoint, I actually like the Duel better than the PCMCIA slot that my G4 PB had. The Duel downloads quicker than the slot on the PB did, don't know if it's because of the faster processor in the MBP or ?? but the MBP definitely downloads really quickly with the Duel.
If I had it to do over again, I might try the Addonics but if P2 under OSX is not officially supported, that would make me a little paranoid.

does anyone know if it even works? i saw that with leaopard and the duel adapter no drivers are necesary, think maybe with leaopard that the addonics would work? anyone wanna ginnea pig it?

I swear by the Duel Adapter. I've used it on two shoots totaling at least forty hours of P2 footage without failure.

So are all issues with the duel solved?
Is it 100% reliable and fast?
(The last time I checked was when the Duel just was out on the market,
please excuse if this has been clarified before...)

The Addonics adapter JUST PLAINLY DOES NOT WORK WITH THE MACBOOK PRO.
Sorry to yell. I've tried it with every OS and driver variation and it will not mount a p2 card.
The issues with the duel adapter have been mostly resolved, but it still is a little quirky.
If you keep it inserted and don't turn off your MBP it works really well.
