1. INT. LARGE FARM BARN - EARLY MORNING.

The barn half abandoned, we see small crates of hay stacked up. A cow in the corner, and a small blanket on the floor. The cracks of sunlight burst through the doors onto the blanket. In the distance, the sound of that annoying bastard crow thing at sunrise.

PAN AROUND MAIN BEAM TO BLANKET

We see on the blanket, a man and woman. He leans into her, kissing her gently.

FADE OUT.

END CREDITS.

See, it doesn't have to be all long and drawn out.

Not sure

My idea could take up a feature but if I only use 4 minutes, then cool.

Probably all 6. Maybe we can implement a kind of carbon credit plan here where if Aram, or Chris do not use all 6 minutes, others can buy the remaining minutes from them. :)

I'm on the edge of 5-6 right now, but I'm trying my best to keep it at or under 5. (This most likely means 9-10 minutes, of course.)

likely to max it out. will likely submit a cutdown for screening purposes and the full-length version later on.

Rollover minutes?

What do you think this is? Cingular?

I'm a fan of the rollover minutes.

But yeah, likely I'll end up submitting a short version of my film like others here.

Cingular is the new AT&T, and you can only retain your rollover minutes when you change plans if you upgrade to a plan that has more monthly minutes than you have saved up in rollover minutes... Which is kind of hard to do when you have over 5k rollover minutes.... Sheisters... Rollover minutes are non-transferrable.

I'm going for slim on time. I don't want this one to feel rushed at all. I don't want to try to cram too much in there this time. Right now 5 minutes if I'm being liberal... but I really have no idea as I am not far enough along in my drafts of my script. I'm probably looking for 5:30 including credits and everything (and taking my time with credits, not screaming them past the screen at the end).

Later,
Jason

Right now it looks like we are going to use 8. ... uh oh.I'm pretty confident that after last night we can be confident that we can bring it in at 6 or slightly (not likely) less.

My script runs briefly onto an 8th page, but I'll definitely compress a little. I'm going to make good use of the entire six minutes.

Just lower the font size, that seems to work.

In all the short film competitions and festivals I've ever seen, the commonest fault is 'short' films that are too long, too flabby, too waffly. For the sake of your audience (and your chances of winning), keep it tight, slash every unnecessary second.

I think one of the biggest issues when it comes to extrememly short films, like these, is that too many people tend to start with a story that really needs to be much longer to be told well.

I know, I know... we've had this discussion before.
:)

I am glad to see that at least one entry is already planning on being significantly shorter than the alotted time limit.

I'm planning on 3-4 minutes, short and simple

I voted 5-6, but would like it shorter. We shall see/

I definitely want to go for the limit. The last several movies I've made have been less than 5 minutes, and I need to branch out. ;)

Zak Forsman

wrapped our shoot yesterday. After bringing all the dailies in, I can safely estimate we will be using all 12 of our allotted 6 minutes.

A 5 page script and the rough cut of our film runs 11 minutes... yeah.

Zak Forsman

okay, so as of today René (aka "Rainy") has an 8 1/2 first cut. rough in spots, very tight in others.
